Software Manager Design to CostLocation Luxembourg, HM Alessandro SqueoThe VPC embarked on a transformative journey, shifting focus from price negotiation to embedding cost and value creation. To that purpose Design to Cost team emerged and performs detailed “teardowns” – physical disassembly of a product or logical disassembly of a service to determine the cost of each constituent element at the most granular level possible.The function was awarded Vodafone’s annual Finance Award for 2018 and CIPS award. Together with the team, you will be conducting End-to-End software tear down/ cost analysis; identifying cost drivers, develop bottom-up cost-analysis and process mapping, identify waste, develop optimization proposals and use findings regarding Software to support negotiation strategy! As a Software Design to Cost Manager, you will apply deep analytical research, and problem solving skills to drive Software ‘tear downs’, execute decision conventions and support commercial negotiation working closely with SCM Networks, SCM IT and both Group Local Technology functions.You will
  • Prepare tear down of selected type of Software (Bespoke, Niche, COTS), including selection of relevant Software categories
  • Conduct Software ‘should-cost’ analysis and assessment of identified cost drivers of Software categories
  • Scope and size the Software technical specifications and assessment of quality and maturity of the Software requirements
  • Lead ‘Design to Value’ tear-down to identify and size logical cost components
  • Run ‘clean sheet’ tool and register savings ideas, including first savings target, prepare and execute leadership ‘decision conventions’ after tear down activities and be a Game Changer in the SCM Software industry
It would be nice if you have…
  • Expert knowledge of Software functionality and applications development within Telco (Networks and/or IT)
  • Deep technical capabilities to understand software technical requirements and cost drivers
  • Knowledge of Software programming and quality test processes
  • Understanding of business finance principles and distinct analytical and problem solving skills
  • Evidence of leading sourcing projects from conception to completion and across functional/ national boundaries
  • Out-of-the-box thinker with ability to challenge the ‘status quo’ and Positive and ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Eperience and knowledge on Software procurement
You must have…
  • A finished university degree level in Software Engineering, Computer science or Software programming/developer
  • Technology industry knowledge preferably in Telco companies/Technology Media Telecommunication, Automotive, Aerospace or Information Technology industry
  • Solid background following software engineer principles
