How do we solve problems for people who have different shopping behaviours from our regular amazon.com shoppers?Our International Technology team is looking for a Software Engineering leader to join us tackling these challenges. In this role, you will shape Amazon's approach to global marketplace expansion i.e. help expand Amazon's core online commerce business and spin our global flywheel. You will build a global yet localised experience for our customers worldwide and help Amazon grow to the next 1 billion customers.The ideal candidate will be passionate about designing, delivering and running large scale systems, with a track record of success in engineering management: delivering on an engineering road map; hiring and growing engineers; and running online services. S/he will be technically deep, and motivated to understand the engineering details of the services their team owns. S/he will have thrived and succeeded in delivering broadly adopted technology products/services in a very high growth environment where priorities shift quickly. S/he is a strong leader who can prioritise well, communicate clearly and compellingly and who understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented, opinionated team. This leader will have a strong track record of balancing innovative thinking with a strong customer and quality focus.#techleaderBasic Qualifications· Deep understanding of software development, and a proven track record (7+ years) of shipping software on time· Experience (3+ years) with managing multiple engineering teams, and managing managers· Experience with large scale distributed systems· Experience building and operating highly available services· Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science or related discipline#techleaderPreferred QualificationsIn addition to the basic qualifications:· Experience with the eCommerce problem space· Prior experience with machine learning algorithms· Familiarity with big data tools and technologies.
